about this years event

the location

This year's event will be held at the luxurious Mottram Hall Hotel and Spa in Cheshire

Mottram Hall’s 7,006 yard 18-hole, Par 72 Championship golf course, is one of a kind.

This championship golf course at Mottram Hall was designed by renowned course architect, Dave Thomas, who previously designed the Brabazon course at The Belfry. With its manicured fairways, strategically placed bunkers and guarded greens, our estate offers an exciting challenge to golfers of all abilities.

Set in 270 acres of Cheshire's finest parkland and located one mile from the picturesque village of Prestbury, the tricky, well-guarded greens are broken up into two contrasting circuits of nine.

The front nine, with its impressive back-drop of the 18th century hall, gently rolls over meadowland and offers golfers many chances to make a score. The back nine winds through rich woodland and is a much more demanding test of golf, giving you the chance to feel like you’re playing in The Open Championship

Our unique course was previously host to the PGA EuroPro Tour. The signature holes are both long Par 4's with plenty of problems to try and avoid. The 13th, stroke index 1, is a giant of a hole that requires long accurate hitting up an ever-rising fairway and even the slightest error can lead to a double-bogey. The 17th is arguably one of the best and most picturesque doglegs in the North West where only a long accurate drive from an elevated tee allows an approach to a tricky two-tier green. With water on the right, thick rough on the left and a stream cutting through the fairway, care must be taken with every shot.

If anyone wants to stay after the event, Mottram Hall is offering a special rate for the Charity of £149.00 BB for the night.
Maximum no. of rooms at this rate is 10. Click here for info: Mottram Hall

the charity

This year's event will benefit FRANCIS HOUSE Childrens Hospice.

Rainbow Family Trust (Renamed in 2012 as Francis House) set up as a charity by Sister Aloysius and Father Thomas Mulheran who were concerned about the lack of palliative care for the families of children with a short life expectancy.
With Sister’s vision, determination and drive in less than two years the seven bedroom Francis House was opened in November 1991 by Diana, Princess of Wales. Only the fifth children’s hospice to be built in the UK and the World.

The Philosophy of Francis House Family Trust developed from belief in the sanctity of life and the dignity of the person.

Francis House and Francis Lodge exist to provide appropriate care for children and young people with life-threatening and life-shortening conditions and the necessary support and short-term rest for their families.

Whereas hospitals must focus on the curing of those who are ill, the Hospice will focus on the care of those for whom a cure is unlikely. Medical and all other support will be centred on comfort and quality of care and a dignified death.

This is the specific vision, which Francis House will seek to share with all of the young people who use its services and their families.

Francis House supports approximately 2,000 people at any one time with respite care, homecare, sibling support, end of life care and emotional and bereavement support.

From our site in Didsbury, Francis House is a lifeline to more than 500 families from across Greater Manchester including Stockport, Oldham, Bury, Rochdale, Manchester, Salford and Trafford.

We provide high levels of clinical care to the families of children and young adults with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. Children, young people and family members are welcomed into a friendly, home from home environment.

The support we offer includes physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual care from a dedicated multi-disciplinary care team. Telephone Support is available 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

One of our aims is to enable children, teenagers and young adults to live life to the full, often helping to fulfill dreams.

Many of these dreams are the kind of things most of us take for granted in our own lives, but are difficult to accomplish when coping with disability or illness.

Francis House is at the forefront of specialist palliative care provision, caring for children with a wide variety of life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
